- Your food will always taste better if you clean your grill on a regular basis. If you use cooking spray before you grill, this will help with the clean up after you cook.
- If it is a charcoal grill, be sure to remove the old coals and brush out the insides. If it is a gas grill, remove the briquettes, lava rocks, or metal flame shield to expose the burner. Remove any ash or residue from around the burner and put the burner back in its place when you are done.
- Be sure to remove the grates and soak them in warm soapy water. When you remove the grates from the soapy water, brush them clean with a wire brush. Before you put the grates back onto the grill, coat them with cooking spray.
- Clean out the inside of the grill with warm soapy water. You can use a stiff wire brush with soapy water to gently scrub the inside surfaces of the grill.
- Before using your grill after it is clean, be sure to allow an extra five minutes to heat to be sure any of the cleaning residue has burned off.
